Stuart Pivar

A noted inventor, scientist, author, art historian, and collector, Mr. Stuart Pivar is a true Homo Universalis. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Stuart Pivar attended the prestigious Brooklyn Technical High School. A skilled student in engineering and science, Stuart Pivar matriculated at Hofstra University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation, Stuart Pivar acknowledged the growing need for plastic manufacturing in America and founded Chem-Tainer Industries in 1959. â�¨â�¨Outside of his successful industrial career, Stuart Pivar boasts one of the finest private art collections in New York City. A fixture at New York art auctions, Pivar particularly prizes figurative art, ancient sculpture, and Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque furniture. In addition to collecting, Pivar invests much of his time sponsoring art education and other cultural endeavors. To this end, Stuart Pivar, along with famed artist and longtime friend Andy Warhol, founded the New York Academy of Art in 1979. Stuart Pivar also authored "The Barye Bronzes: A Catalogue Raisonn�©," which, although it was written in 1974, is still widely read by art historians and scholars today. â�¨â�¨Though he still maintains an impressive collection of art, Stuart Pivar has turned his attention to a number of scientific pursuits in recent years. Since the mid-90s, Pivar has funded AIDS research, regenerative medicine, and origin-of-life science research. Pivar has also authored scientific texts dealing with the evolution. â�¨â�¨Stuart Pivar currently lives in Manhattan's Upper West Side. Outside of his numerous philanthropic and cultural pursuits, Mr. Pivar continues to serve as the Chairman of Chem-Tainer Industries, whose offices are based in Long Island.
